Thanksgiving always has been my favorite holiday. I think it has better food (if you fry the turkey or toss it all together and have country ham like I grew up eating) and less pressure than any other holiday. I know everyone has traditions for holidays - I'll give you ours.
- We get up and go serve and eat at the Community Thanksgiving Meal. I believe this year we will be at the new location at Arnco/Sargent. Both my older sons are going to be part of the new CCC campus and they are serving at that location. So we will be over there with them. This is a relatively new tradition (over the last three years) but my kids would be unwilling to let go of this.
- At some point on Thanksgiving we will go to a movie. A Martin family tradition is the holiday movie. We go to the theatre on every holiday when the office is closed. What movie would you suggest this year?
- We will have a great family meal - country ham, broccoli and cheese casserole, sweet potatoes, and all the rest (No Weight Watcher points on Thanksgiving).
- I'll make my family groan by talking about how thankful I am for them.
I have so many things for which to give thanks.
- I still can't believe Jesus loves. me. I was so lost when Jesus found me. My life was not only a wreck spiritually, I was wrecking other people's lives as quick as I could. I am so thankful for Jesus and His love for me and His willingness to use me.
- I am married to one of the best people I know. More than that I'm convinced that she and I are perfectly suited for each other. We are more suited for each other now than we were when we got married 27 years ago (I was not as passive and kind then as I am now)
- I have three great young men who I'm blessed to call sons.
- I work with the most creative committed servant oriented staff on the planet.
- I am part of a church that is alive and is willing to do whatever it takes to not just take care of each other but is taking risks to reach people who are far from God.
I have a lot more but those really are the top of my list. I would love to hear what is the top of your "things I'm thankful for" list. Let's share them here and encourage each other.
