Time Change Sunday Night

  • Let's say it right up front - I HATE ALL THE TIME CHANGE STUFF. It has never made sense to me.
  • I'm going to try to take a day and go to spring training in Florida this week.  It's a life long dream of mine.  My lovely wife is the one who arranged it - as my Valentine's day present.  My gift to her was that I'm going to go.
  • Today we had the first of two "soft launch" preview services at Madras.  I heard good stuff.  I also heard we have some stuff to fix.  I have full confidence the team will get it fixed.
  • How is it any different that it's day light now and dark longer when we get up in the morning????  This makes my head hurt.
  • We have some good stuff coming up in the next few weeks - Prayer for Madras Campus on March 22, Easter services (82% of people say they would come if someone they knew invited them - so do it), Big Fix at the end of the month.
  • Don't forget this week is our anger management lab week as a church.  "Oh Goody here's my chance!!!!"
  • FOR MEN ONLY - One of my favorite writers has a great article on how to win really important arguments.
  • Okay for those of you who think DST has something to do with saving energy, here is an article that proves it's all doublespeak.
  • Okay let's all go to sleep and get that extra hour back.

I have always wondered what effects the time change has on people during the first several days after the change. Mostly during the spring ahead period. I know that I am thrown off for several days and never really adjust to the change in the spring. Another aspect that I think about is that the extra daylight plays right into the American mindset for leisure. We are all about personal pursuits for pleasure.

The politicians promises are usually a lot of hype regarding anything. Seems that when they say something will cost "X" dollars, it usually will be 3 times that amount before it is all over.

While I am at it, the government is to blame for traffic congestion. Drive around the Atlanta area on any given weekday and when there is a state or federal holiday, there is no traffic congestion. Reducing the size of government will reduce the amount of traffic, which will reduce pollution, which will save fuel, which will save people money. But, beg my pardon, government would never do something that makes sense, would they? Promises up against realities are comparable to the summit of Mt. Everest rising over the floor of the Marianas Trench.
