I'm in New York City for a conference. I have always loved cities. Even though I grew up on a farm in one of the most rural areas of our country for as long as I can remember I've been drawn to cities. I love the energy of the city, I love the diversity of the city and of all the cities I've ever visited I love this one the most. I love riding the subway and buses. I love the smells of the food on every corner and how many different languages you can hear by just standing still. But if you stand still long you'll get run over. I love the city. At the conference today I was told that there are 60,000 people per square mile in this city (by the way it's only 5,000 per square mile in our city - Atlanta). As I sit here about to go to bed it hit me - one of the reasons I think I'm drawn to the city is because of that. There are so many people. All of them people made in the image of God. There is more image of God per square inch here than any place in North America. I have to believe God loves this city a lot to for no other reason than all these people. Coming home tomorrow night. Even though I love this city nothing compares to the place to which I'm called to serve - Coweta There are 60,000 there that God also loves.
