Monday night? It was just Saturday

Wow the last three days have been fast. I got home from a long day of work at 8:08 (missed the first part of Pris ion Break -arrrgh). It's hard for me to believe the amount of activity that has happened in the last 72 hours. We kicked off Chapter 2 with an awesome leadership event on Saturday night. There were parts of that event that I will remember for a long, long time. Jason led us through a spiritual exercise to remember the first 16 years of this church that was just an awesome time of worship. I got home that night about 10 p.m. and crawled into bed about midnight. By 5 a.m. I was up and ready to go for Sunday services. I couldn't wait to talk to the church about what is the heart of who we are and where we are going in Chapter 2. Every one of the three services was engaged. The drama was great (did you guys see Jason Collins the actor - who knew?) and God was at work in a huge way. Then we had the first two Chapter 2 group fellowships. I so enjoyed meeting some newer people at our church and connecting with some CCC verterans. I even met a couple more Germans at one group - who knows what a group of us might do!! I just loved conversing with people about the opportunity to reach the 60,000 unchurched people in our area. Then had a great day today - FULL of activity about Chapter 2, brainstorming for the series we are doing in December (it's called "What's up with that?") and then a meeting about one of the bigger details for multi-site ministry. Wow!!

ALERT - As readers of this blog you will want to be at this coming Sunday's service at Community Christian. This blog is about the scandal of grace and this Sunday is going to be all about that. I'm going to talk about "church for the rest of us" AND it looks like we will have multiple baptisms. I can't wait. It's the second week of the chapter 2 campaign and yes I'll talk about what God is calling us to do and how to get involved. But more than that we are talking about grace just like this past week.

GROUP FELLOWSHIP - I hope everyone reading the blog has already signed up for one of the remaining Chapter 2 group fellowship times. If you haven't please come. Send an e-mail here if you want to come and aren't already signed up.

I watched Steve, Ed, Bill, and Jason Sunday night, knowing they had been at it since before dawn and here it was 8PM. It occurred to me how tired you all must have been (even for someone with German genes. You know who you are.) Please pace yourselves and be sure to get that much-needed down time to re-energize. One more thing: I was reading Acts chapter 2 last night and talking to my wife about the excitement and life in the new church that Luke writes about. My wife, who happens to be a lot more intellectually agile than I am, pointed out that the first thing she thought of when she heard you talk about Chapter 2 was Acts chapter 2. I totally missed that. I don't if that was intentional on your part, but it's a great and exciting chapter of Acts and a great model and inspiration for CCC going forward.
