Some of the stuff in my head this past week

  • I think this looks cool and if I were 18 I would probably want to ride it.  Now I just think of how long I would hurt when I crashed.
  • We’re already working on the series that will kick off the school year in August.  It’s called Mouthwash.  It’s going to be great.
  • How can this happen in our country? Don’t write it off as happening somewhere else – we have to make sure it doesn’t happen around us.  Don't be indifferent to what's going on around you - engage and make a difference where you can.
  • Today (Sunday) I was thinking about getting a portable baptistery for Community Christian Madras.  They have their first baptism coming up. YEA GOD!  Pray for the 60,000, especially pray for your 4.
  • If you don’t know I love the Atlanta Braves.  They are in my head – a lot…hits when men on base..hits with men on base….don’t swing at the first pitch every time.... Oh well we won a great game today.
  • I believe this article is true.
  • My wife had a birthday this week.  We had a great meal at one of her favorite restaurants.  29 years now we've celebrated birthday's together.  I'm blessed.
  • I tried to read up on Obama's tax plans
  • While Christianity is struggling in the U.S. it's a different story around the world.  Look what God is doing in China.  It can happen here.  Let's pray and be open to God using us.

Regarding "growth mind-set" vs "fixed mind-set", it only took me about 50 years and some really good medication to come to the same conclusion. I've really struggled over the years with not wanting to be wrong or to appear to be wrong to others. It's gotten a lot better thanks to some good coaching from some folks in my professional circles. As a result, I have learned to take more risks and to banish a lot of the associated fears that kept me from trying new things. I wish I had known about this a long time ago, but I'm grateful that I've been given the opportunity to grow even at my somewhat advanced age. The medical angle is also pretty interesting. There's a lot of controversy about the overuse of anti-depressants, but I thank God that my doctor and I found one that works for me and helped in this whole process. Finding the right one was like turning on a light in a dim room. The Lord works in mysterious ways....

YOu are not alone in that discovery Dennis. I have several close friends that have the same testimony. I believe you finding this help is also God's loving care. I'm happy for you and for the rest of us as you grow and become all God has for you.

Regarding Obama and taxes.

I do not support increasing taxes on anyone! Unless it would be those who DO NOT pay taxes any way IE. Illegal Immigrants, Drug Dealers, Foreign Visitors on temporary work visa's ect.

The only fair tax system (in my opinion and we know what that is worth) is The FAIR TAX as proposed by John Linder.

The first problem with our government is the tax and spend mentality that the felons on criminal hill have.

That being said I agree that this is the greatest country in the world if for no other reason than that we can disagree out loud with out fear.

I also stayed glued to the history channel this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed watching our history and the birth of our nation unfold.

The way that hospital treated that lady is shameful.
