In case you were wondering the NFL playoff games aren't cancelled either

I know the Atlanta news media is all worked up over the "blizzard". I know many of you are as well. I know that ice is dangerous - so be careful. I also know that many, many other churches in Coweta have cancelled services. But I really don't get it all.

Tomorrow afternoon more than 120,000 people in Green Bay and Boston will sit outside and watch NFL playoff games in tempatures well below freezing. Last week at Green Bay the snow was so thick that you couldn't see the yard markers. I bet there are no fans asking for refunds because of the cold and I can assure you the players want to play.

Community Christian will have church on Sunday, January 20. Please be careful if your neighborhood is icy. But come on - we have a great service planned. If you slide off the road, give us a call I have friends with those great big trucks. I would come for you, but my Toyota Corrola might not do the job.

YAY!! I am so glad we are having church!!! I could not imagine my week without it! This is the first snow we have had since we moved here over 5 years ago, it was great. Today at the grocery store (we really did need milk) was like watching the preperations for a hurricane in Florida. Amazing!!

I wasn't living here for the "Great Blizzard" of 92..or was it 91? not sure, but I've heard so much about it. I am a manager, so of course my phone has been on fire with the calls about closing early, not opening at all, etc, and I was discussing with one of my coworkers this great blizzard of the early 90's..I was kind of tickled by all the seriousness..I joked that it most likley was weather that someone living North of us would consider regular winter weather, but she insisted it was a blizzard...I imagine a Blizzard to be several feet of snow blocking your front door...am I crazy?.. Of course driving should be very delicate, but it is really the ones who drive as they normally would on any sunny, clear day instead of using extreme caution on icy roads that I worry about..I hope everyone slows down tomorrow, I'll be there.:)

We attended this weeks services. All of the weather hoopla, as usual, was a lot of worrying about something no one could control in the first place (sounds like the last 2 weeks messages). Yes, preparation is prudent, but looking out the window or exploring the immediate locale will provide so much more of an idea of travel conditions.

We have been visiting for a number of weeks to Community Christian. Pastor Ed, you preach like I have taught for many years. I appreciate the journey you take through passages of scripture. I notice an immediate commentary that reflects what a passage is saying but you do not wander off very far from the context and what you say is very practical. That, of course, is what God's Word is, practical and real.
Keep it up. We will be back.

BTW: we do not get much wintry weather around here so grace needs to be shown to the reactions of people to what occurs, as infrequent as it does occur. (GRIN)
