Some of the stuff in my head the last week

  • To know her is to love her - and I do.  My best hopes and dreams are for Aubrey and Ryan.
  • A story of the "rest of us".  This one a pretty famous (writer of Basic Instinct, Showgirls, Flashdance and more)... grace really is amazing.
  • Prevent senility, what do you think?
  • Sleeping alone?
  • Don't know what you think about Bob Woodward. I've enjoyed a couple of his books and I enjoyed these articles from inside the Bush White House.
  • I know the Braves suck and Mets are winning the division but there is nothing better than taking 2 out of three from them in NYC in the last series ever in Shea.
  • Here's a quote that I've been thinking about “The difference between where we are and where we want to be is the painful decisions we are unwilling to make.”

After listening to yesterday's message, I have a question. Is it possible to be a Christian who is trying to grow to full devotion and NOT attend church? I have friends who say they are Christians and are good people but only attend church on Easter and Christmas. I don't know what their daily prayer life is like but they will say things like: "We need to pray for them or I have been praying for them". I know their heavenly destination is between God and them but I wonder if I should be working on getting them to go to church or leave well enough alone and focus on those who are "nonbelievers". Is this a stupid question?

It is not a stupid question. You are right that ulitmately their eternal destination is for God to decide. Since I don't know the people you are talking about personally take my comments as being very general and speaking from my experience.
Generally when someone says to me "I'm a Christian but I don't go to church or I don't believe that going to church matters" I find that either they have had a bad experience with church OR they do not understand what it means to be a Christian the way the Bible describes. There has been a a lot of teaching in our day that makes Christianity as if the only thing God is concerned with is getting people to heaven. That Jesus said, "Come follow me and I will get you to heaven." But the truth is He called us to a way of life. That way of life includes community with believers, cooperation in "The body of Christ" (the church) and having an influence on people around us.
Okay this comment is too long. Foote - since I believe I know who you are I'm going to email you the rest.
